All good things must come to an end. After a long, fun week, the KSR crew will make its way home from Nashville this afternoon as SEC Media Days wrap up. Given all their hard work on and off the clock, it may take them a month to recover. But the work’s not done quite yet.

Lane Kiffin (Ole Miss), Shane Beamer (South Carolina), and Josh Heupel (Tennessee) bring the event to a close today. For Kentucky, Beamer and Heupel’s comments will be the most relevant since the Gamecocks and the Vols are on the 2023 schedule (and Beamer and Stoops have some chippy history); however, Kiffin is always entertaining, so he’s the perfect choice to wake up the sleepy reporters on the final morning.

Here’s today’s schedule (all times Eastern). You can watch each coach’s press conference live on the SEC Network.

  • 10:05 AM: Ole Miss – Lane Kiffin
    • Players: Cedric Johnson (DE), Quinshon Judkins (RB), Deantre Prince (CB)
  • 11:30 AM: South Carolina – Shane Beamer
    • Players: Tonka Hemingway (DL), Kai Kroeger (P), Spencer Rattler (QB)
  • 1:00 PM: Tennessee – Josh Heupel
    • Players: Joe Milton III (QB), Omari Thomas (DL), Jacob Warren (TE)

Until then, let’s catch you up on a big day for Kentucky Football in Nashville.

KSR’s coverage of Stoops and Kentucky at SEC Media Days

Mark Stoops, Octavious OxendineJJ Weaver, and Eli Cox made the short and apparently, turbulent trip to Nashville yesterday to represent the program and preview the season. Due to thunderstorms, the chartered flight to Music City was a little white-knuckled, but the crew arrived safely in time for their moment in the spotlight.

Some common themes in Stoops’ remarks throughout the day were the importance of getting back to blue-collar physical football, especially on the offensive line; the return of Liam Coen; what to expect from Devin Leary; the impact of the incoming transfers; and Jay Boulware joining the staff as running backs coach/special teams coordinator. Here’s a link dump of our coverage, which I encourage you to spend some time combing through.

The rest of the league also found out that JJ Weaver has six fingers on one hand, something those of us who follow Kentucky have known for years. It was a good opportunity for him to plug his work with Nike on the “Perfect Fit” glove, though.

Nick Roush asked Mark Stoops about going bald

After the scrum with the local media, Nick Roush got a few minutes with Stoops on the On3 set on radio row. After covering the main talking points, Roush went for it and asked the question only he could get away with asking: when is Stoops going to give in and let bald be bald? I’ll admit I panicked when I heard Roush asked the head coach of the University of Kentucky Football team this, but to his credit, Stoops handled it well and gave a genuine response.

Shoutout to our friends at SERVRPO of Lexington

Now a message from the great team at SERVPRO of Lexington. They tend to fire and water damage, mold remediation, storm damage, commercial clean up and demolition.

They are locally owned and operated so they are part of your community.

The team at SERVPRO knows that a disaster doesn’t strike at convenient times. That is why they offer 24 hour emergency service.

Our team at KSR had a first hand account of their highly trained restoration technicians. While we didn’t experience an emergency, we had some unwelcome visitors to our office (BIRDS!). The office space didn’t have ideal work conditions as the birds made a mess all over the furniture, floors, and carpet. We called SERVPRO and they were at our office in an hour. We were on their schedule the next work day. The managers and technicians were top notch professionals. The office was absolutely spotless. They also wanted to make sure they reviewed the space with us before they left to ensure our satisfaction.

We highly recommend the team at SERVPRO for both commercial and residential services. Give them a call at 859-225-3193 or visit https://www.servprolexingtonky.com. Tell them KSR sent you. That’s SERVPRO of Lexington, faster to any size disaster!
