KSR Today, presented by Eckrich: Monday of Georgia Week
Good morning, Kentucky Sports Radio readers. It’s Monday and we like Mondays in the fall because it’s a day of new football talk. Today, we begin previewing Kentucky‘s game at Georgia, a top-25 battle between two of the SEC’s three unbeaten teams. (Missouri is the other. Weird.)
So, get excited and get ready for a huge week ahead before the huge opportunity for your University of Kentucky Wildcats at Georgia. We have lots ahead today, beginning with a message from our pals at Eckrich about this year’s $1 Million Challenge for Teachers.
Eckrich is proud to present the $1 Million Challenge for Teachers! This 2023 college football season Eckrich, in partnership with Extra Yard for Teachers and Kroger, will invite a local teacher (and true hero) onto the field at the Kentucky vs. Alabama game on November 11th.
The selected teacher, randomly selected from a list of nominations, will have a chance to throw a football through a target to win up to $1 million dollars in donations to fund local classroom projects and resources in their school and community. Nominate a teacher here for a chance to throw! Make sure to nominate your teacher by October 26th.

NOON PRESS CONFERENCE
For a sixth straight Monday, Mark Stoops will welcome his favorite interviewers into Kroger Field’s media room for a free lunch and a 30-minute conversation about the Wildcats. Today, Stoops will explain all that went well in the win over Florida last Saturday before looking ahead to the trip to Athens to play Georgia next Saturday. The Monday chat will begin at noon.
Hopefully, Stoops also has some positive news about Barion Brown, who left the Florida game in the second half, and Kenneth Horsey, who hasn’t played since the season’s first game. The Week 6 depth chart will be released shortly before Stoops’ press conference begins.
You can find it here at KSR.
CALL-IN SHOW
Then, later tonight, Stoops will sit down with Tom Leach for a new edition of Stoops’ weekly call-in radio show. Stoops and Leach will be live on the UK Sports Network airwaves from 6-7 p.m. ET on WLAP 630 in Lexington or the state’s UK Sports Network affiliates.
New KSR Football Podcast at 8 p.m.
The Kentucky Football talk will continue at 8 p.m. (albeit without Stoops) when the KSR Football Podcast goes live for a new episode. Nick Roush, Drew Franklin, Adam Luckett, and Freddie Maggard will recap Kentucky-Florida and preview Kentucky-Georgia in the most ridiculous manner possible. Leave a comment, and the show will try to read it on the broadcast.
You can find the new episode on KSR’s YouTube when it goes live, or consume the audio-only version of KSR’s podcasts on Apple and Spotify.
Kentucky in the Top 25
On Sunday, both the AP and Coaches polls ranked Kentucky among their Top 25 teams in college football. The Wildcats debuted at No. 20 in both polls, climbing up from two spots outside the rankings in last week’s voting results.
Kentucky’s next opponent, Georgia, is still No. 1 in college football.

With two ranked teams playing in Athens, SEC Network will set up at Georgia for its Friday afternoon and Saturday morning television programming. SEC Nation will be outside a Kentucky game for a second straight week because Pawl & Co. picked Georgia-Kentucky for their Week 6 location.

Kentucky is a double-digit dog
Saturday’s results in Lexington and Auburn significantly impacted the point spread for Kentucky’s trip to Georgia. Before this past weekend, Kentucky was a 21.5-point underdog in Athens on the look-ahead line. Yesterday, the line plunged when it reappeared on the board, and now, Kentucky is only a 14.5-point dog against the Dawgs.
The total on the game is currently 48 points.
Kentucky-Missouri (Oct. 14) start time
Later today, the Southeastern Conference will reveal its full schedule with times and TV information for the games on Saturday, October 14. For the Kentucky Wildcats, that’s the home game against Missouri, so we’ll know more details about the next game in Lexington soon, likely around noon.
New KY High School Rankings, Kroger Game of the Week
Also coming out today is KSR’s new Kentucky High School Football Rankings, followed by KSR’s new Kroger Game of the Week announcement for this coming Friday night in the Bluegrass. First, we’ll tell you the new Top 25; then, we’ll share which high school will host this week’s Kroger Game of the Week. Stay tuned for those reveals.
Brian Robinson to announce this week
There’s another crucial high school football announcement this week. On Wednesday, Brian Robinson, the four-star EDGE in Ohio, will announce his college commitment. Robinson took official visits to four of his five finalists: Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan and Penn State. Tennessee is also in the mix, but the Wildcats are the presumed leader, and Robinson says he is already “100 percent” in his decision.
Yahtzee incoming.
KSR’s Adam Luckett has more on Kentucky’s recruiting since beating Florida in a conversation with On3’s Josh Newberg.
Wan’Dale Robinson on Monday Night Football
We have one more NFL game before saying goodbye to live football until Wednesday night’s C-USA doubleheader for the degenerates. Tonight, former Kentucky star Wan’Dale Robinson will play under the bright lights of Monday Night Football when his New York Giants host the Seattle Seahawks on ESPN.
Robinson returned to the lineup last week for four catches in a loss at San Francisco.
