KSR Today: More Summer League and recruiting -- plus former Cats back in Lex

It’s like Groundhog Day, rewinding and repeating much of the same from the last couple of days around KSR HQ — and I’m certainly not complaining about it, because it’s a lot of good stuff. It’s not often you get to see former Kentucky standouts take care of business all day during the NBA Summer League while also following Mark Pope and his staff around at various recruiting events as they look to reel in their next big fish or two. That’s been the theme the last several days, and it’s gonna be the same on Sunday — with a few new developments, including past fan favorites back in Lexington and potentially a solid update on Andrija Jelavic, the last Wildcat to make his way to campus.
We’ll start with Summer League and recruiting, then work our way down the list from there. Let’s have a day, shall we?

Kentucky coaches keep at it on the recruiting trail
Welcome to day four of four of the first live period of July, coaches able to check out their top targets in action across major recruiting events from Thursday to Sunday — Kentucky setting up shop in Rock Hill at the adidas 3SSB championships and North Augusta at Nike EYBL and Peach Jam.
KSR’s Zack Geoghegan is in attendance at the former event this weekend while I’ll be joined by Jacob Polacheck at Peach Jam from July 16-20 — attacking summer recruiting from all angles. For now, Geoghegan reports that Pope, Cody Fueger and Jason Hart have all bounced around Rock Hill watching targets such as Tay Kinney, Deron Rippey Jr., Caleb Holt, Anthony Thompson, Bruce Branch (2027) and Martay Barnes (2027), among others.
On the EYBL side, Pope and Fueger have joined Alvin Brooks III in keeping a very, very close eye on No. 1 recruit Tyran Stokes, along with a few others.
Some of KSR’s coverage throughout the weekend:
- 4-star PG Deron Rippey Jr. locks in official visit with Kentucky
- Tay Kinney talks Kentucky visit, adidas partnership, and decision timeline
- 5-star guard Caleb Holt schedules Kentucky visit, sees himself in Otega Oweh’s role
- 5-star SF Anthony Thompson hearing regularly from Kentucky with official visits on the way
- Top-10 recruit Miikka Muurinen includes Kentucky in list cut
- Kentucky Reaches Out to 4-Star PF Cam Williams

Four weeks of summer practice down, four to go
It seems like just yesterday the Wildcats were moving in and introducing themselves to Big Blue Nation for the very first time. Now, we’re halfway through summer workouts — four weeks down, four more to go.
To celebrate the milestone, the Kentucky video team dropped some new clips on Saturday showing off their strength and conditioning work, shooting and dunking.
It’s a little over a minute of footage, but plenty of good content stuffed in that minute. Take a look:
Movement on Andrija Jelavic?
For the first time since he signed with Kentucky back in May, Jelavic has been added to the official 2025-26 roster on UK’s website, one of 14 scholarship players set to suit up for the Wildcats later this year.
His name was listed on Saturday — albeit without an official picture in a jersey, but confirmed as No. 4.

Standing 6-11, the freshman forward’s hometown is listed as Zagreb, Croatia with Mega Superbet his former high school.
“Played for Mega Superbet in the Adriatic League, averaging 11.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals,” his official bio reads. “Previously played for OKK Beograd, KK Mega Leks U18 and KK Cedevita Olimpija Junior. Played at the 2022 U18 Euro Championships averaging 11.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in seven outings.”
It aligns with positive news on Elsa Vadfors on the WBB side, reported by KSR’s Phoenix Stevens — she’s in a similar boat coming from Sweden. Is Jelavic pushing closer toward his Lexington debut and life as a Wildcat?
It’s good seeing the former Wildcats back in Lexington
Champions Weekend continues in Lexington ahead of the start of The Basketball Tournament next week, Saturday including a kids camp in the morning and the Charity Basketball Game in the evening.
The likes of Andrew and Aaron Harrison, Willie Cauley-Stein, Archie Goodwin, Kahlil Whitney, Ansley Almonor, DeAndre Liggins and Doron Lamb are back in town for La Familia, but a few other familiar faces made their way to their old stomping grounds and suited up in the blue and white at Tates Creek High School last night.
Among them? Alex Poythress, Dominique Hawkins, Darius Miller, Julius Mays, Jarrod Polson.
They won’t be suiting up for La Familia, but it was great seeing some former fan favorites back home doing what they do best.
Reece Potter and Malachi Moreno showed up to support, as well.
Be prepared for a big week with La Familia — and hopefully beyond.
Until then, enjoy your Sunday and go Cats.
