Ten days of nothing but Kentucky basketball news and updates start Wednesday, as the KSR crew is set to travel south to North Augusta for the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, followed by a trip north to Toronto for the 2023 GLOBL JAM. Non-stop recruiting updates at the first stop, then current team updates at stop two across the border.

I’ve got my bags packed for the first leg of the trip, heading down to Atlanta to pick up KSR+’s Jacob Polacheck at the airport before cutting across to N. Augusta to see the best young basketball talent in the world compete for a grassroots championship. Peach Jam started earlier this week, where 2024 targets Tre Johnson, Boogie Fland, Karter Knox, Jalil Bethea, Billy Richmond and Ahmad Nowell, among others, have already made statements. 2025 options Jasper Johnson, Meleek Thomas and Cameron Boozer are doing the same, while 2026 standouts A.J. Dybantsa and Tyran Stokes continue to prove they’re among the best in all of grassroots basketball, regardless of class.

Kentucky is making a push for all of the above, with coaches allowed courtside starting Thursday, July 6 through Sunday, July 9. KSR will have boots on the ground following John Calipari and his staff around to see who the Wildcats like the most to close out the travel basketball season. Will any new offers be handed out? Is UK gaining traction with any high-profile options? Is the staff falling out of love with any old favorites?

Those questions will all be answered over the next several days in North Augusta. Follow along here on the website, KSR+ and KSBoard for all of the updates you’ll ever need.

DJ Wagner, Reed Sheppard and Adou Thiero speak to the media

John Calipari previewed Kentucky’s trip to Toronto for the 2023 GLOBL JAM on Friday, providing updates on potential roster additions, Aaron Bradshaw’s injury, staff changes and summer practice standouts. Now, three Wildcats are set to speak to the media on Wednesday.

DJ Wagner, Reed Sheppard and Adou Thiero will answer questions starting at 11 a.m. ET, discussing who is looking the part in practice and team expectations for Toronto. How are the freshmen coming along? Have Thiero and Ugonna Onyenso made the jumps Kentucky needs this season? How has Tre Mitchell looked to begin his time in Lexington?

KSR will have updates on the website throughout the afternoon and on the YouTube page, which can be found here.

Kentucky will wear Nike Ja 1s in Toronto

Speaking of Toronto, we also got our first look at the Wildcats’ sneaker of choice while representing the United States in the GLOBL JAM. And they’ll be sporting red, white and Kentucky blue.

The players will be wearing the Nike Ja 1 Hunger — a red, white and blue rendition of Ja Morant’s first signature shoe released to the public back in May.

A closer look:

Not too shabby.

5-star OT lists Kentucky as a finalist

Kentucky was the first school to receive an official visit from 5-star offensive tackle target Jonathan Daniels. Now, Mark Stoops’ program is a finalist for the No. 11 overall prospect in the On300.

The Wildcats join Florida State and Georgia in the 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman out of Pensacola (Fla.) Pine Forest.

“It is about the people first at those three schools,” Daniels told On3. “They communicate with me daily and they have made me feel like a top priority. Coaches from all three schools have built relationships with me, I love how they have gotten to know me, and if I went to Florida State, Georgia or Kentucky, I know the people would be for me and in my corner.”

A commitment is expected this summer. Can Kentucky reel in one of its biggest recruits ever?

’24 ATH Quaysheed Scott commits to Kentucky

Nothing like a good Fourth of July football commitment. And that’s exactly what the Wildcats got in 2024 athlete Quaysheed “Q” Scott, who chose Kentucky over a list of finalists that also included Old Dominion, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, and Miami (OH). The 6-foot, 185-pound product out of Marion (SC) High is the 13th pledge for UK’s 2024 class and the third already this month.

Scott, who is being recruited to Kentucky as a defensive back, is considered a three-star recruit and top 100 ATH in the country according to On3’s rankings.

His addition comes following a standout camp season, highlighted by a 4.4-second laser 40-yard dash in front of Kentucky coaches in Lexington back in June. That was enough for the Wildcats to make a push and earn his commitment.
