We have reached the third Saturday in June, and the Kentucky football season is still 11 weeks away. But that just fine because a busy recruiting month is heating up for the football coaching and support staff at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility.

Kentucky is set to host seven official visitors this weekend, and four of those 2023 recruits are top-500 prospects. Bowling Green (Ky.) South Warren defensive back Cristian Conyer highlights the group as the Wildcats are battling Tennessee before a decision is announced on Fourth of July weekend. Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral defensive lineman Kendrick Gilbert is also a major target. Elsewhere, national recruit Neeo Avery will be making the trip to campus while Kentucky is battling South Carolina and Maryland for Florida linebacker Jaden Robinson. Ohio wideout Anthony Brown could be on commitment watch.

The coaching staff will also be monitoring some other targets who will be visiting some other programs. Last week, Kentucky earned a quick recruiting win from Philadephia (Pa.) Roman Catholic offensive guard Austin Ramsey after an official visit, and the staff will look to score another commitment in the coming days.

KSR’s recruiting department has been locked in on the trail and will be here when developments start happening. In the meantime, let’s get into some other big stories at KSR Today.

Antonio Reeves, Sahvir Wheeler take the podium

June also means the arrival of student-athletes to campus, and the media is getting a chance to meet some of the new players. Illinois State transfer Antonio Reeves spoke with reporters in the Lexington for the first time wearing blue and white on Friday and was joined by senior point guard Sahvir Wheeler.

KSR’s basketball coverage team will have more from the Q&A session over the weekend. Stay tuned.

Mark Stoops takes on the weather with KSR

Despite being faced with a brutal rainstorm in Central Kentucky, Mark Stoops would not be stopped from jumping on the radio with Matt Jones and the gang. Many topics were discussed as the head football coach spent just under 15 minutes with KSR on Friday morning.

Stoops addressed how the national media views his current football team, how impressive Will Levis has been, and what the future could look like in the SEC. The KSR crew has you covered.

Moving Day at 2022 U.S. Open

The biggest sporting event of the weekend is taking place at The Country Club for the first time 1988, and the first 36 holes featured plenty of action. The leaderboard is currently a mixed bag of underdogs and expected favorites as we could be in for a great weekend of golf for the Father’s Day festivities.

The coverage is running from 10:00 a.m until 12:00 p.m. on the Peacock streaming service before moving to NBC for eight consecutive hours. Let’s get locked in by taking a look at the pairings for Saturday.

Stanley Cup Game 2

The NBA Finals wrapped on Thursday, but we still have some playoff hockey left in June. After a thrilling Game 1, the Colorado Avalanche is out to a series lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Lightning is looking to become the first NHL franchise to three-peat since the New York Islanders won three straight from 1981 to 1983. Meanwhile, the Avalanche have been the best team in hockey all season. Puck drop for Game 2 is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on ABC. Let’s get some more overtime hockey, please.

Day Two at the College World Series

The end of the college baseball season is culminating in Omaha, and festivities got underway on Friday. Oklahoma was able to knock off No. 5 Texas A&M to get the party started and then Notre Dame handled No. 9 Texas in the nightcap. That means we are getting an elimination game between Texas and Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon. That will be juicy.

The other pod begins pool play today with No. 2 Stanford facing Arkansas and No. 14 Auburn taking on Ole Miss. The action begins at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN.
