The Basketball Tournament is an oasis during the summer sports desert. Tonight that oasis comes with a side of Kentucky basketball. Somto Cyril is suiting up just a few miles down the road in the TBT.

The 6-foot-11 center in the class of 2024 committed to Kentucky in June. One of a few Overtime Elite targets for the Cats, many hoped he could reclassify to join this year’s team. While it’s still unclear if he’ll be able to make the jump right away, he’s still finding a way to get in some extra hoops this summer.

The first amateur to ever participate in TBT,” Somto Cyril will donate any of his potential winnings from the winner-take-all, $1 million tournament to retain his eligibility. He is suiting up for Team Overtime tonight at 6 pm EST against Carmen’s Crew. The Ohio State alumni team is one of the best regulars in the TBT, winners of the event in 2019. Seth Greenberg joins Sources Say from the TBT

In-between calling games at Freedom Hall, ESPN analyst Seth Greenberg spent a few minutes speaking with our pal Jack Pilgrim on Sources Say. Hear what he thinks about John Calipari’s basketball team after watching them when the GLOBL Jam and much, much more.

After Greenberg called into Sources Say, he called a win for a Louisville basketball team, something that rarely happens now a days. The Ville defeated War Ready, an Auburn alumni team, 91-67 at Freedom Hall. Russ Smith led the Louisville alumni team with 21 points, but Chris Dowe (Bellarmine) and Nick Mayo (EKU) stole the show with this highlight.

Unfortunately, we will not get to see a Kentucky vs. Louisville matchup at Freedom Hall on Thursday night. Despite Archie Goodwin’s best efforts, Eberlein Drive was upset by the Underdawgs in the nightcap. Goodwin scored 26 points, but the TBT mainstays could not come from behind and stay alive to take on The Ville in the next round.

After opening with a 3-0 win in primetime over Vietnam, the U.S. Women’s National Team is running it back. Game two of the group stage will kick off bright and early across the world, but we’ll get to watch it all at 9 pm EST on Fox.

Change of Plans for Kentucky Football Target

Northwestern transfer Nigel Glover is looking for a new home before the start of college football season. His first order of business after entering the transfer portal was to check out the University of Kentucky. It’s not the only school the former four-star from Dayton is visiting. Glover is taking his talents to Michigan and Ohio State, canceling plans to go to Michigan State for a trip to Columbus. The latest developments are not ideal — changing a travel schedule to go to a Big Ten powerhouse while in Lexington doesn’t sound great — but there’s still time ticking in this unexpected recruitment.
