KSR Today: Summer camps taking over

Good morning, folks! We’re smack-dab in the middle of the offseason, but summer camps on both the basketball and football sides are luckily saving the day. Let’s dive straight into the news and notes you need to know to get your Thursday rolling.
Lance Ware is in Richmond
Continuing the Players First Satellite Camps on Thursday will be rising junior forward Lance Ware, who will be at Madison Southern High School from 1-4 p.m. We’ve already heard from the likes of CJ Fredrick, Sahvir Wheeler, and Daimion Collins from previous camps this month, and today is Ware’s day to host. There will be an interview opportunity, so expect some “How about Lance?” content coming to the site later on.
We’ve also been posting plenty of content from the Pangos All-American Camp from earlier in the week, which featured 120-plus of the country’s top high school basketball recruits. If you missed out on any of that, we’ve got you covered, with plenty more to come over the next several days.

Notes from UK football camp
Summer camps for Kentucky Football pick right back up later today with a one-day camp scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. I plan on making my first-ever appearance at one of these camps to scout the talent brought in by the staff. Adam Luckett will be joining me, as well. We’ll have content coming throughout the day from the camp, so stay tuned for that.
In the meantime, check out what we’ve already posted to the site from the first two days of camp.

Chin Coleman gets a raise; KT Turner hire made official
Two key pieces of the Kentucky Men’s Basketball coaching staff are officially locked in for the future.
On Wednesday, news broke that assistant coach Chin Coleman received a nifty pay raise and a one-year extension to his contract. Coleman’s new deal raises his salary for the upcoming season from $500,000 to $575,000 and the 2023-24 season from $550,000 to $600,000. It also extends his contract through the 2024-25 season, for which he will be paid $650,000.
Later in the day, the hiring of new assistant coach KT Turner was made official by the program. The 44-year-old replaces former assistant Jai Lucas, who recently left Kentucky to take the same position at Duke. Turner comes to Kentucky from Oklahoma, where he spent one season as associate head coach under Porter Moster. He’s also spent stints at both Texas and SMU.

In semi-related news, former Wildcat assistant Joel Justus, who spent the 2021-22 season as the associate head coach at Arizona State, is making a move to NC State where he’ll be part of Kevin Keatts’ staff.
Javon Baker off to UCF
Instead of taking his talents to Kentucky, former Alabama wide receiver Javon Baker will suit up for the UCF Golden Knights. The talented pass-catcher revealed his decision on social media.
Baker initially committed to Kentucky in January, just a few weeks after playing for Alabama in the CFB National Championship. As summer training camp approached, officials around the University of Kentucky grew weary and ultimately decided to move on without Baker on the 2022 roster.
Someone get Big O a trophy case
Kentucky’s Director of Player of Development, TJ Beisner, posted a fantastic picture to Twitter on Wednesday featuring Oscar Tshiebwe with all of his well-earned hardware from this past season.
Big O might actually need something bigger than just a trophy case though.
That’s all the news and notes I have for you this morning. Make sure to tune into KSR in an hour as Bobby Bones takes over the airwaves for Matt Jones.
