Good morning, readers of KentuckySportsRadio.com. Today, the Big Blue Nation is on Lamar Wilkerson Watch after Kentucky hosted Wilkerson for a visit over the weekend. He was at Keeneland while many of us were glued to the couch, watching Rory McIlroy close out an exciting Masters weekend, winning his first green jacket through a roller coaster of a Sunday, including an extra walk down 18. Congratulations to Rory for finally getting over the hump to win the career grand slam.

Then, later today, a former Kentucky Women’s Basketball star will hear her name called in the WNBA Draft. It’s also “back to work” for one UK Athletics program while the baseball and softball teams gear up for home games tomorrow night. The NBA postseason begins tomorrow night, too.

For those stories and more, join me for a Monday rundown with your coffee. I’m already on my fourth cup because, you know, Monday.

Lamar Wilkerson enjoyed his Kentucky visit

Sam Houston State transfer Lamar Wilkerson is one of the top targets still on Kentucky Basketball‘s recruiting board for next season. The high-scoring sharpshooter visited Indiana on Saturday and then made a Sunday trip to Lexington, where Keeneland was a big part of his recruiting visit. Wilkerson was spotted at the track with Mark Pope, even finding his way into the winner’s circle with El Magnifico after the fifth race of the afternoon. When not hanging with a winning horse, Wilkerson and Pope were popular throughout Keeneland, as you can imagine, which can only help Pope’s recruitment of Wilkerson to Kentucky.

Wilkerson is scheduled to visit Auburn on Monday as part of his plan to visit his top schools consecutively. However, Kentucky would love to go ahead and get in the winner’s circle of Wilkerson’s recruitment while his visit to Lexington is still fresh. We’re keeping a very close eye on this one as Pope tries to fill the shooting role on next year’s team.

Keeping up with the commitments

Remember, you can follow KSR’s Transfer Portal Tracker for updates on Kentucky’s targets and any movements around the portal during these busy times. Currently, 12 roster spots are taken for 2025-26, with one shooter still to be found. Brandon Garrison and Andrija Jelavic filled out the frontcourt over the weekend, with Garrison announcing his return for his junior year and Croatian-born Jelavic committing from KK Mega Basket club in Serbia. Kentucky now has one of the best frontcourts in the entire country, with Garrison, Jelavis, Jayden Quaintance, and Malachi Moreno.

It’s Draft Day in the WNBA

Former Kentucky WBB star Georgia Amoore will soon learn where she will begin her professional basketball career. Amoore is in New York City for tonight’s 2025 WNBA Draft, where she is in consideration for a top-10 pick.

ESPN.com predicts Amoore coming off the board at No. 9 to the L.A. Sparks:

9. Los Angeles Sparks: Georgia Amoore

Kentucky Wildcats | Point Guard | 5-6 | Senior

Amoore averaged 19.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 6.9 assists while playing an SEC-high 36.7 minutes per game this past season for the Wildcats. She spent her first four seasons at Virginia Tech, which she helped lead to the 2023 Final Four. Amoore made 408 3-pointers in college, shooting 35.6% from behind the arc.

Amoore averaged 19.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 6.9 assists in her only season as a Wildcat. She will be Kentucky’s first draft pick since Rhyne Howard in 2022. You can watch the WNBA Draft unfold at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Kentucky Football closed the book on spring practice with Saturday’s Spring Showcase at Kroger Field. If you missed the abbreviated practice and no-tackle scrimmage or KSR’s content from the day, you can play catch-up with these links:

The Wildcats took Sunday off to rest and reflect on the 15 spring practices. Today, they’re back to work in the weight and meeting rooms at the UK practice facility. Mark Stoops said on Saturday, “We’re going right back to work… We’ve got to make sure we don’t lose any of the gains that we made as far as strength, weight, all the things; you know, we got to make sure we maintain that in the next three weeks before they take a little break in May. So, we’re going to hit it pretty hard again for a couple weeks, and try to continue to move forward.”

Kentucky Baseball lost Sunday’s rubber match to No. 2 Texas

Kentucky Baseball (19-14, 6-9) lost another rubber match, this time to second-ranked Texas (29-5, 13-2) in Lexington on Sunday. The Wildcats had a chance to win a home SEC series at Kentucky Proud Park, but the visiting Longhorns took Game 3, winning 5-4 on a ground-ball double play in the bottom of the ninth with the tying run on third.

Up next for the Wildcats, Miami University comes to town on Tuesday night, snapping a run of seven consecutive games against top-12 opponents for Kentucky. The first pitch at KPP is set for 7 p.m.
