KSR Today: HS Football and Barion Brown are back; Will Levis' preseason Game 2 in jeopardy

Good Saturday morning! Are you ready for another round of breadsticks to hold you over before the main course of football season begins in just two short weeks? High school football is here and the NFL preseason is back with a full slate of games today, headlined by Will Levis and the Tennessee Titans taking on the Minnesota Vikings tonight at 8:00 p.m.
Well, maybe.
Levis left a joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday with a lower-body injury and his status for this evening’s game is up in the air. Head Coach Mike Vrabel said of Levis’s availability, “We’ll let you know on Saturday.”
Levis had an up-and-down preseason NFL debut last week but hopes to improve upon that during his next opportunity on the field as he looks to outplay Malik Willis for the team’s backup quarterback position. Keep an eye on his status as the game time gets closer.
Another former Wildcat, Josh Ali, had a solid second preseason game for the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night, catching three balls for 39 yards, good for best on the team. Last week, 25 former Kentucky players suited up in the NFL preseason and it looks like they will be on pace to match that number this week as well. Full recap coming your way on Tuesday.
As for news of current and potentially soon-to-be ‘Cats:
KHSAA declares the Smith twins eligible
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association waited until the 11th hour but finally cleared Jacob Smith and Jerod Smith to play football for Corbin. The news came just in time for them to suit up for the Redhounds against Cincinnati (Ohio) Hughes.
The two four-star defensive beasts are committed to Michigan as of now, but Mark Stoops, Vince Marrow, and the coaching staff have gained some serious momentum when it comes to a potential change of heart of the blue-chip prospects. KSR’s own Nick Roush logged an expert prediction that would keep the Smith brothers in the Bluegrass.
Normally you might want to warm up the dice for a potential Yahtzee!, but in this case, shine up the spatula and be prepared for a big-time flip.
KSR’s Game of the Week: LCA vs. Bowling Green
If Will Levis doesn’t play (or even if he does), you might want to keep tabs on KSR’s Kroger Game of the Week in High School football when Lexington Christian Academy, led by future Kentucky quarterback, Cutter Boley, takes on Bowling Green tonight at 8:00 p.m.
LCA starts off the season ranked 13th in KSR’s top 25 while Bowling Green comes in at No. 7.
Bowling Green is led by Deuce Bailey, a two-sport star who also dominates the basketball court, and brings a level of athleticism to the field that LCA might not see all year long. KSR will be on-site to give you an inside view of the top High School matchup in the state.
Barion Brown is back just in time as season tickets are sold out
The speediest guy on the field this year for the Kentucky Wildcats, Barion Brown, is back at practice. Brown sat out multiple days due to a soft tissue injury, however, he returned to action recently, much to the delight of, well, everybody.
Kentucky football posted scenes from training camp, featuring the dynamic wide receiver sporting his new jersey number No. 7. There is also a good clip of him doing what he does best, catching a pass and taking it to the house for a touchdown.

Brown is going to be the most fun player this year for Kentucky in every possible way from his potential to turn every touch into a highlight reel to his exuberant personality. It is good to see he is fully recovered.
The buzz around Kentucky football this year is real and most evident by the fact season tickets are sold out.
BBNBA News Update
Things are still quiet for the Kentucky basketball team right now, but former ‘Cats in the NBA have a few random bits of news floating around.
The Indiana Pacers’ Oscar Tshiebwe announced he will conduct an autograph event at Rupp Arena. It will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on August 25th in conjunction with the John Calipari Fantasy Experience.
Fans will have the opportunity to bring an item for Oscar to sign, take an individual photo with him, take a shot on the Rupp Arena court, and even go on a behind-the-scenes tour of Rupp Arena, including the Kentucky locker room. Contests will be held throughout the event, with the grand prize being tickets to an Indiana Pacers game to see Oscar play.
The event is open to individuals of all ages and abilities. A limited number of tickets are available for $75 each. You can claim your spot at OscarAutographs.com.
In less exciting news, the Oklahoma City Thunder waived TyTy Washington, making the former Kentucky playmaker a free agent just a few weeks before training camp. Surely another team will scoop him up soon. It is too early in his career and he is too talented for him the league to give up on him already.
Finally, Damian Lillard dropped Immanuel Quickley’s name in a rap song. It goes like this:
Gucci from head to the sandals,
$51 million that’s annual,
Get to it quickley, Immanuel
I can’t relate to Gucci or making $50 million in a year, but Immanuel Quickley is pretty awesome. Dame Lillard, well, you know. He’s fine.
