There’s nothing better than waking up to good news and this morning, we got some excellent news in the form of 7’2″ Croatian center Zvonimir Ivisic, who announced his commitment to Kentucky on Instagram. The 19-year-old told Jonathan Givony he’s joining the roster because of John Calipari’s reputation for putting players in the pros.

“I decided to come to Kentucky because it’s the best spot in the US for talented basketball players and Coach Calipari is a Hall of Fame coach that sent more players to the NBA than anyone else.”

With both Aaron Bradshaw and Ugonna Onyenso recovering from foot surgery, we’re excited to have you too, Zvonimir. Hopefully, by the time you’re in Lexington, I’ll have learned how to spell your name without double-checking a million times.

If this is the first you’re hearing about Ivisic’s commitment, take a few minutes to catch up. We’ve got you covered.

Jack Pilgrim and the Sources Say crew are about to discuss Ivisic’s commitment on the KSR YouTube Channel. Make sure you’re subscribed so you receive a notification when they’re live. If you watch live, you can ask a question in the chat.

USWNT advances to the WWC Knockouts

Also while you were sleeping, the United States Women’s National Team advanced to the knockout round of the Women’s World Cup, but it wasn’t easy. Portuguese striker Ana Capeta nearly sent the USWNT home in stoppage time, but her ball hit the post and the game ended in a draw. Phew. Shoutout to that post.

The United States finished as runner-up to the Netherlands in Group E and will face the winner of Group G in Melbourne on Sunday. That will likely be Sweden, which only needs a point against Argentina to secure its spot.

Commitment watch continues in football

Back in the Bluegrass, we’re still on commitment watch for several big football prospects. We know at least one decision is coming today. Four-star running back Jason Patterson will announce his college destination around lunchtime. The 6’0″ 205 lbs. speedster was the top rusher in the state of Florida last season, with over 2,700 yards and 35 touchdowns. He’s down to Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Rutgers, Cincinnati, and Boston College. Your University of Kentucky Wildcats are the frontrunners, with an 88.2% chance of landing his services per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), but keep an eye out for Scott Satterfield and Cincinnati.

Three-star linebacker Steven Soles will also announce a commitment this week, although we don’t know when or how. Kentucky is also the favorite in his recruitment, with a significant lead over Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, and USF in his RPM. 2025 three-star quarterback Stone Saunders announces his decision on Friday night (6:30 p.m. ET) and the Cats are favored there as well, with Adam Luckett logging a pick for Kentucky on Friday.

And then there’s Northwestern transfer linebacker Nigel Glover, who visited Kentucky last week and presumably wants to make his decision soon in order to join his future team for fall camp. There were rumblings we might hear something on Monday, but that did not happen. Add in another pending decision from four-star EDGE Brian Robinson and a potential flip from the Smith twins Jacob and Jerod and there are a ton of puzzle pieces moving around on the table, just days before the Cats open fall camp.

Florida, Missouri tickets are on sale now

Another sign it’s almost Football Time In The Bluegrass: ticket sale updates. Last night, UK announced that the Tennessee (Oct. 28) and Alabama (Nov. 11) games are sold out and tickets for the Florida game are extremely limited. If you want to secure your spot to see the Cats face the Gators (Sept. 30) and/or Missouri Tigers (Oct. 14), get on over to Ticketmaster right now or consider season ticket options.

Meet Antonio Reeves at Barleycorn’s in Cold Spring

Do you want to meet Antonio Reeves and thank him for returning to Kentucky for a super-senior season (or ask him about his new teammate)? “Threeves” is holding a signing at Barleycorn’s in Cold Spring from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. tonight. Get on out there and show him some love, Northern Kentucky.
