The 2023 Kentucky high school state football finals are in the books. The traditional powerhouses continued to add to their trophy cases. 

On Friday, the Boyle County Rebels went wire-to-wire from the preseason to the end as the state’s top overall team. Boyle County routed Covington Catholic 41-0 in the Class 4A final to finish undefeated and win its fourth straight state title and 12th overall. The Rebels are the only school to have two four-peats.

Also on Friday, Pikeville won its third straight Class A championship and 8th overall behind a dominating defense, easily beating Raceland 21-0 in the finals in back-to-back years. The Panthers moved up five spots to No. 19. In Class 2A, Mayfield outlasted Owensboro Catholic 53-48 in an offensive barrage to win its 13th championship.

On Saturday, Christian Academy-Louisville captured its second straight Class 3A title and fourth overall, blasting Bell County 41-16. In Class 6A, Trinity overcame a 14-3 deficit to win its record 28th state title 41-20 over Bryan Station. Finally, in Class 4A, Bowling Green knocked off Cooper 28-14 to win its 8th title in school history.
