La Familia to Meet The Ville in Kentucky vs. Louisville TBT Showdown
The game we’ve been waiting for is actually going to happen. After La Familia steamrolled its first three opponents in The Basketball Tournament, The Ville held up their end of the bargain. Now former Kentucky Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals will meet on the hardwood in this summer’s TBT.
Just like the Kentucky alumni team on Tuesday, the Louisville alumni team shot 50% from three-point land in their third-round matchup. Unlike the former Cats, The Ville had to sweat it out a little longer. Team DRC was within seven points in the fourth quarter before the Card pulled away with an 83-68 victory over the No. 8 seed.
Russ Smith and David Johnson led The Ville with 15 points apiece. Montrezl Harrell had 11 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.
Freedom Hall will play host to the highly-anticipated TBT quarterfinal between the former Kentucky Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 pm EST. It’s safe to say this will be the biggest July basketball game ever played in the state of Kentucky. Louisville fans are clearly eager to beat Kentucky in a sporting event for the first time in approximately 782 months.

The TBT attendance record of 7,202 is on the verge of being shattered. Less than 30 minutes after The Ville’s victory, you couldn’t find any tickets on TicketMaster. A few more in the upper deck have been released and you can get in the door for as little as $33. The $1 Million Basketball Tournament has never seen anything quite like this.
Highlights from La Familia’s TBT Win over Herd That
Even though this isn’t The Ville’s first rodeo — the former Cards lost in the third round a year ago — La Familia looks like the team that’s prepared to make a legitimate run at $1 million. The former Cats won their first three games by an average of 24 ppg. La Familia is scoring 86 ppg. and they lit up the scoreboard on Tuesday in a 95-66 win.
