Labor Day Rapid Reaction: Good News from Mark Stoops

Labor Day gives America an extra day to exhale and send the summer off with a bang. For Mark Stoops and the Kentucky football program, it’s just another Monday of a game week.

While you were working on your tan, the Kentucky head football coach held a press conference to share his thoughts on the Wildcats’ victory over Ball State. Stoops was pleased with his team’s readiness to play emotionally and physically, but mentally they did not execute according to plan.

“Our guys played physical on both sides of the ball. Mentally, they were ready to play. What we did not play was very clean…. It’s a fundamental game. We played hard, we played physical, we were not always fundamentally sound and that will bite us eventually,” said Stoops.

Fortunately, Kentucky did not get bit too hard by the injury bug. Stoops reported that senior captain Kenneth Horsey did not suffer a season-ending injury, but he will be sidelined for a few weeks. Drew Franklin admitted that he almost broke protocol and celebrated with a round of applause in the Kroger Field media room. He joined Nick Roush to discuss everything Mark Stoops said in his week two press conference. Enjoy.
