Through the detective work of a popular YouTuber, the Los Angeles Lakers were exposed for throwing Malik Monk under the bus on the team’s social media graphics after losses. A Twitter account named Depressed Lakers Fan first accused the @Lakers of never using a photo of LeBron James after a loss. When Kenny Beecham saw the accusation, he launched an investigation by scrolling through months of Lakers content to confirm Depressed Lakers Fan’s tweet: an image of LeBron James was never used after any of the 43 losses this season.

According to the study, Malik Monk’s photo has been used to announce 10 of the 43 losses.

A few examples of Monk being the Lakers’ poster boy for defeat:

Wenyen Gabriel is on a two-way deal with the Lakers and hasn’t been on the team for a month, yet his likeness has already been associated with a Lakers loss more than LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook combined.

But after wins, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook account for 18 of the 31 victory graphics.

This has to be intentional. It’s very LeBron-like behavior, so he probably has strict orders throughout the social media intern cubicles or even wrote it into his contract like a psychopath. Is it a big deal? Of course not. But the Lakers must be called out and challenged to put more respect on Malik Monk. 10 of 43 are too many and we thank Kenny Beecham and Depressed Lakers Fan for bringing this slandering of Monk’s good name to light.

Also I hope LeBron’s ankle gets better.

Now here’s a video of Malik Monk against UNC (the first time) during happier times in Big Blue Nation.
