Young, a Lexington native, was a five-star prospect out of high school, and a top 15 overall recruit in the nation back in 2014. Young decided to buy into Mark Stoopsâ vision and sign with the Wildcats, becoming one of the most important pieces in the dominant Big Blue Wall. At Kentucky, Young made an impact right away, starting 10 games as a true freshman in 2016, helping Kentucky end their five-year bowl drought, and the emergence of Benny Snell.
Youngâs time at UK wasnât void of any hiccups however, in 2018 young suffered a torn meniscus that sidelined him for Kentuckyâs 10-win season in 2018. However, in 2019 Young was back better than ever, helping pave the way for record breaking-performances from Lynn Bowden. He also showed tremendous character during his comeback season when he was named the captain of the 2019 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his work in the community. In 2020, he helped represent John Schlarman, being the first Wildcat to don Schlarmanâs No. 65 against Vanderbilt, just a mere few days after the coachâs passing.
Young earned All-SEC honors after starting all 11 games at left tackle in 2020.
Landon Young on the bayou? I canât imagine a better scenario.
