Latest Bracketology has Kenny Brooks hosting former team in possible 2nd round matchup
Kentucky women’s basketball is in the midst of a week-long break from games, but that hasn’t done anything to hurt the Wildcats’ projected NCAA Tournament seeding.
ESPN’s Charlie Creme released an updated look at his Bracketology on Friday. Just as he did in the previous update, Creme has Kentucky locked in as a 3-seed, meaning the ‘Cats would host the opening two rounds of the postseason at Memorial Coliseum. UK would face 14-seed Albany in the first round with a round two matchup against the winner of 6-seed Baylor and 11-seed Washington/Virginia Tech.
As many of you likely already know, Kentucky head coach Kenny Brooks came to Lexington after building Virginia Tech into an ACC powerhouse from 2016-24. The Hokies would have to get out of the play-in round first and then upset a higher seed just to reach a possible Kentucky matchup, but the idea of it happening sure is fun to think about. Brooks posted a record of 182-80 during his time in Blacksburg.
In the event this scenario plays out as Creme projects, a matchup with Baylor would also hold an additional storyline. Former Kentucky point guard Jada Walker is a senior with the Bears averaging 11.7 points per game. She played at UK from 2021-23.

The Big Ten leads all conferences with 13 projected 2025 NCAA Tournament teams. But the SEC isn’t too far behind in second place with 10. Joining Kentucky are South Carolina (1-seed), Texas (2), LSU (2), Tennessee (4), Oklahoma (4), Alabama (5), Ole Miss (8), Vanderbilt (8), and Mississippi State (8). UK has already beaten Vanderbilt and Mississippi State early into the SEC schedule.
No. 12 Kentucky (15-1; 4-0 SEC) will return to action on Sunday. After seven days off, the Wildcats head to Athens for a road matchup against Georgia (9-10). Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. EST on the SEC Network+.
