Latest on Mississippi State Stars Will Rogers, Woody Marks
College football coaches rarely divulge specific injury information. Mark Stoops comments on injuries by saying nothing specific, but using phrases like, “We’ll see.” Zac Arnett doesn’t even go that far. Fortunately, college football has newsbreakers providing vital Mississippi State injury information about 10 hours before kickoff.
Brett McMurphy reports the Bulldogs will be without starting quarterback Will Rogers and running back Jo’Quavious “Woody” Marks. It’s the second straight week Marks has spent on the sideline. Rogers has now missed a month, paving the way for former Vanderbilt quarterback Mike Wright to earn his third starts of the season.
Marks is Mississippi State’s leading rusher with 500 yards and four touchdowns. This fall he’s averaged 5.2 yards per carry.
Now the Bulldogs must turn to their second leading rusher, Wright. He’s gained 261 yards on the ground and scored three touchdowns. Mississippi State used him as a change-of-pace rushing option early in the season. Over the last two weeks as the starter he’s completed 24-of-44 passes (54.5%) for 246 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Wright ran for 5 yards per carry, totaling 120 yards in the two games.
Wright led Miss. State to their only SEC win of the season, a 7-3 victory over Arkansas. The last time Kentucky fans saw Wright, he combined for 310 yards and a couple of touchdowns in an upset victory for Vanderbilt at Kroger Field.

Kentucky Injury Report vs. Mississippi State
Safety Jalen Geiger missed a couple weeks of football. He dressed against Tennessee, but was limited to only four snaps. He’s expected to carry a heavier workload this week.
It’s unclear of Jordan Lovett will accompany Geiger on the football field. The North Hardin product missed the Tennessee game. True freshman Ty Bryant is expected to see a ton of snaps after an exceptional debut a week ago.
Kenneth Horsey did not play against Tennessee, however, he was practicing throughout the week. There’s reason to believe No. 68 will be available Saturday at Mississippi State. We’ll know more once we get closer to kickoff.
