This year Kentucky’s radio team will be calling Wildcat SEC basketball road games from home.

Tom Leach has been on the road throughout the UK football season to call games alongside Jeff Piecoro. That will not be the case when the UK basketball team travels on the road in SEC play this year. Leach and Mike Pratt will call UK basketball SEC road games from a studio in Lexington with the help of multiple ESPN/SEC Network camera angles.

“It’s going to be really different. I honestly do not know how hard it will be because I have never experienced anything like that but apparently all the leagues are going to that. The SEC has the affiliation with the SEC Network obviously so we can get what we need to call the game,” Pratt told Larry Vaught.

The radio broadcasting limitations vary during the non-conference portion of Kentucky’s basketball schedule. There may be a game or two, like the one at Louisville, where Leach and Pratt can call the game from the side of the court instead of a Lexington studio. As for Tuesday’s game against Kansas in the Champions Classic at Indianapolis, Leach and Pratt will provide radio commentary from Lexington.
