Kentucky Volleyball has secured the transfer of Lexington native and star setter Lane Jenkins to the program. The news was announced by UK on Friday.

Jenkins, a graduate of Lafayette High School in Lexington, was a high school force, being named Lafayette MVP twice. She also received Lexington all-city accolades in 2018 and was a two-time recipient of the KHSAA All-State Academic Award.

Returning home to the Bluegrass puts Jenkins among many Lexington natives who have played Division I Volleyball in recent years.

Lexington is now a volleyball destination for young athletes like Lane Jenkins after securing a program first NCAA Championship title in 2020.

Head Coach Craig Skinner says that Jenkins will “…wear the blue and white with pride…” and will make a huge impact for the team both on and off the floor.

“Lane is on the long list of players who have come out of Lexington to play Division one volleyball in the last several years,” Craig Skinner said in the press release. “We are thrilled that she has decided to come home and join our program. She will wear the blue and white with pride and make a big impact for us on and off the floor. Everyone who we talked to in the process raves about her as a person and competitor.”

Jenkins joins Kentucky from Loyola-Chicago where she had a successful freshman season, appearing in all 32 matches. She finished her rookie season among the best in the Missouri Valley Conference, averaging six assists per set. The Lexington native also averaged 2.25 digs per set and had 12 service aces in addition to a team-high 12 double-doubles, completing a standout freshman year at the top.

Kentucky’s spring schedule will be announced soon, with the addition of Jenkins to the roster a big one now that All-American Madi Skinner intends to transfer.
