LOOK: Lexington's new pro soccer club reveals name, logo
A professional soccer club is coming to Lexington, and today, we got our first look at the name and logo. Lexington Sporting Club, Lexington SC for short, will kick off its inaugural season in the USL League One in Spring 2023. Its crest, designed by renowned crest designer Christopher Payne, features a vibrant green stylized horse figure set against a dark green background.
Lexington SC spent several months gathering feedback from the community on the crest and based its design on common themes like Central Kentucky’s winning heritage, the region’s unparalleled landscape, and its horse and bourbon industries. Here’s a video further explaining the crest:

In January, the club released renderings for its stadium, which will be located downtown across from Rupp Arena on High Street. The stadium would exceed a capacity of 6,000 and feature 45,000 square feet of entertainment-focused retail with patio views overlooking both the stadium and Rupp Arena. The surrounding development project would include a 160-room hotel, a 250-unit resort-style residential development, and two integrated parking garages with a minimum of 2,000 parking spaces. Until the stadium is complete, Lexington SC will play its games at a local college facility.
Lexington SC also launched its new website today, which offers merchandise and the chance for fans to place a deposit on tickets for the 2023 season.
