Liam Coen reaches agreement with Buccaneers, per report
The back-and-forth with Liam Coen appears to be over. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers zeroed in on the Kentucky offensive coordinator, but no deal had been finalized.
That has now changed 24 hours later, as Fox Sports reporter Greg Auman says the two sides have come together on a contract agreement.
“Bucs have reached an agreement to make Liam Coen their new offensive coordinator,” Auman reports. “Former Rams assistant coming to Tampa.”
Reports surfaced early Friday morning indicating Tampa was working on a deal with Coen, followed by Bucs QB Baker Mayfield — who was with the Kentucky OC in Los Angeles in 2022 — adding confirming those reports later in the afternoon.

“I got to work with Liam in L.A.,” Mayfield told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “Great guy. Really, really great guy. If they lock that down for sure, it’s a similar system. Same system, just some different terminology in how he wants to call things. There’s something to say about that with continuity in the offense for skill guys and the offensive line. It’s important to have.”
ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported “no deal is in place and the situation remains fluid for now.”
That no longer appears to be the case. Coen is heading to Tampa and Kentucky’s search for a new offensive coordinator starts now.
