Liam Coen has a few more football games to coach before he returns to Lexington as Kentucky’s offensive coordinator. Once he is back in Kentucky blue, there are a few Wildcats in particular that will benefit from his offensive expertise.

Tayvion Robinson

Tayvion Robinson did not sign up to play in Rich Scangarello’s offense. He transferred from Virginia Tech to be a featured slot receiver for Liam Coen. While he always pushed back on Wan’Dale Robinson comparisons, that production is what drew him to the Commonwealth. Robinson caught at least six passes in the first three non-conference games of the season and had two 100-yard games. In six SEC games he caught just 16 passes for 121 yards. Now he has a second chance to end his collegiate career on a high with Liam Coen.

Izayah Cummings

Not gonna lie, I wrote a post to prepare for Izayah Cummings’ transfer portal departure. After a breakout 2021 season, things quickly went south under Rich Scangarello.

The former Louisville Male standout was a vital piece of Liam Coen’s passing game. One of Will Levis’ favorite targets, he caught 14 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns. Fast forward one year, he dropped a touchdown pass early in the season and was never able to get out of the doghouse. He did not catch a pass in 2022, only rushing the ball once for 23 yards. Nobody would have blamed Cummings for transferring, but it appears to be off the table now that Coen is back in the fold.

Barion Brown

Liam Coen is widely connected to the Sean McVay coaching tree. What’s often overlooked are his connections to Mark Whipple, who most recently was the offensive coordinator at Nebraska and Pitt. Whipple’s strength is scheming one guy open. Those offenses each had 1,000-yard receivers, Jordan Addison (100 receptions, 1,593 yards) and Trey Palmer (71 receptions, 1,043 yards).

Even though Liam Coen has more weapons at wide receiver this time around, one dude is getting the Wan’Dale Robinson treatment. You will not have to worry about how many times Barion Brown is targeted. Coen will find creative ways to get the explosive wide receiver open for big plays that turn into touchdowns. It’s going to be a lot of fun to watch.
