LISTEN: Georgia Amoore joined KSR to talk about Kentucky, Kenny Brooks, accents, and more
Lost in Tuesday’s game-day madness was KSR’s morning interview with Georgia Amoore, who is the show’s first in-season interview with a basketball player since NIL opened the door for those opportunities. Amoore immediately became one of KSR’s favorite interviewees due to her quick wit, authenticity, and, you know, she’s really good at basketball and open to talking about it.
Amoore’s Australian accent also won over KSR’s listeners, who’ve grown to know Australian accents on the show through Max Duffy. But Amoore’s best stuff came when talking about how Kenny Brooks has turned around Kentucky Women’s Basketball in their short time in Lexington. Amoore followed Brooks to Kentucky after four years together at Virginia Tech, an easy decision, she admitted.
“It was a great opportunity, and I knew I had one more year of eligibility,” Amoore told KSR. “I had draft aspirations last year, and then I was like, I can develop so much more under him in a new place in a new conference and show that we can get a team together and be successful. He’s put so much effort and dedication into me that it’s kind of fitting that, for my last year, I go with him and we try to turn this program around, and we have so far.”
So far, Kentucky is 15-1 overall, 4-0 in the SEC, and ranked 12th in the country. Amoore leads the way in scoring, averaging 18.1 points per game with 7.4 assists as Kentucky’s starting point guard.
Final Four aspirations
Brooks and Amoore reached the Final Four together with Virginia Tech in 2023, the Hokies’ first trip to the final weekend of the NCAA Tournament. Matt Jones asked if she thinks they have the ability for one more in them with the Wildcats in 2025.

“I think so,” Amoore replied. “There’s no ceiling with this team. You look at the variety of us, you know, you have 6-5, 6-4, 6-3 girls who don’t play like they should be on the block. They want to run the lanes and shoot 3s–“
ESPN’s Bracketology projects Kentucky as a No. 3 seed; however, there are six top-25 matchups on the regular season schedule that need attention first.
Listen to Georgia Amoore on KSR
Amoore could only sit with KSR for a segment because she had to get to class. You can find her conversation with Matt Jones halfway through Hour 1 on Tuesday’s podcast:
