The biggest high school basketball game in the state this season isn’t happening at Rupp Arena. It’s in the 11th Region Final tonight at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Couldn’t find a ticket? Don’t worry, we got you covered.

Led by top-50 talent Malachi Moreno, No. 1 Great Crossing is facing off against No. 2 Lexington Catholic in the 11th Region Final. The winner advances to play the Region 8 champion in the Sweet 16 next Wednesday at Rupp Arena.

Great Crossing has only one loss on the season and it was to a team from Virginia. The new school in Scott County took down Lexington Catholic 58-50 in their first meeting. Vince Dawson had 16 points while Moreno tallied 20 points and 19 rebounds in the victory.

Standing 7 feet tall, Moreno is the third-ranked junior center in America. The No. 32 player in the 2025 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, has offers from Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa, Cincinnati, and many others.
