The Cats made it look easy Friday night, taking down Georgia 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-12) inside Memorial Coliseum and improving to 2-0 in SEC play.

Junior middle blocker Lizzie Carr had a career night, tallying a career-high 13 kills while hitting .611%, helping lead her team to a smooth victory.

“Everything was flowing,” said Carr. “Cassie (O’Brien) was getting me in good position, so it just kind of felt easy.”

Eva Hudson, Brooke DeLeye, and Carr led the charge, putting up a combined 31 kills on the night. All three players reached double digits, showcasing their offensive dominance. Powerful kills coupled with timely blocks and well-placed service aces highlighted Kentucky’s balanced roster.

The Cats hit the ground running in the first set, storming out to an early 8-2 lead, forcing a Georgia timeout. Key plays by Carr, including seven blocks, and several hitting errors by the Bulldogs set the tone early. The Cats opened the match with laser focus and precise execution, leading to a convincing 25-13 set one win.

The Bulldogs tightened up in the second set, committing fewer errors and preventing the Cats from easily pulling away. However, several aces, key slide attacks by Carr, and powerful swings from Hudson kept the momentum in the Wildcats’ favor, taking the second set 25-13.

Riding the momentum from their success, the Cats raced out to an early 8-3 lead in the third set, forcing another Georgia timeout. Everything was clicking for the Cats as they cruised to a 25-12 third-set win, completing the sweep and making it look effortless.

From the opening serve, Kentucky established itself as the dominant team in the arena, setting a tone Georgia failed to match. The Cats’ early dominance and efficient performance highlighted the preparation from head coach Craig Skinner, setting the team up for success with favorable matchups.

“We were a lot more balanced offensively tonight,” said Skinner. “But serving and defense were the story tonight.”

Up next, Kentucky hits the road to face the Rebels of Ole Miss next Friday, Oct. 3, at 7:00 p.m. (SEC Network) in Oxford, Mississippi. The Cats will look to carry their momentum from back-to-back sweeps into the matchup against the Rebels, hoping to preserve their undefeated SEC record.
