Look at the bright side; Bill Self isn't our coach.

selfcal This season's second round exit was clearly an upsetting outcome for the team. Though the committee placed UK in a tougher bracket than they deserved (once again), many thought that our historically dominant backcourt duo would be enough to overcome the bad draw and carry us to another deep postseason run. Clearly, things didn’t turn out that way. But, cheer up UK fans. While the end result was disappointing, things could always be worse. Bill Self could be our coach. Despite oddsmakers labeling them the outright favorites to win the tournament, Self's Jayhawks lost in their Elite Eight matchup to Villanova last night. For KU, it was business as usual. In Self’s 14 years at Kansas, the Jayhawks have only been to two Final Fours. Meanwhile, in Cal’s seven years at Kentucky, the Wildcats have been to four. In the past four tournaments, Kansas has received two number #1 seeds and two #2 seeds. During that time, the Jayhawks lost twice in the second round, once in the Sweet Sixteen, and once in the Elite Eight. Through the same period, the committee’s given UK a four seed, a one seed, an eight seed, and an NIT berth. Yet, Calipari’s taken the team to two Final Fours. Yeah, Self’s regular seasons have tended to be less volatile. But the name of the game is success in the tournament. And with that in mind, thank God that we've got someone better than Bill Self. Go Cal. Go Cats.
