LOOK: Dane Key and Barion Brown's custom cleats
The folks over at True Blue Customs posted photos on Instagram of the custom cleats they created for Kentucky wide receivers, Dane Key and Barion Brown. As you might expect, they are awesome.
Barion Brown’s blue-on-blue cleats feature the word “SPEED” in all capital letters, a fitting summation of what he is all about. Personally, I was hoping for it to say, “COOKIES,” which is what he said in the retelling of his kickoff return for a touchdown in last year’s opening game against Miami of Ohio.
“As soon as it hit my hands, it was cookies. I knew it was a touchdown.”
On the Instagram post featuring his custom cleats, Brown commented, “We coming crazy this year.” I think that means he likes them.

The custom cleats made for Dane Key lean into the obvious pun that is his last name and feature a hand-painted old-school key on the side that somewhat mimics the Nike logo on the reverse side. It also has the number six on the key ring part of the old-timey-looking metal.
While the key itself might be from times long past, this look is fresh.
The team unveiled new uniforms for the 2023 season, a look to which I give a solid A-minus, depsite the fact I don’t necessarily embrace the secondary logo.
These cleats will look good under those new threads.
