LOOK: Rob Dillingham hears his name called at the 2024 NBA Draft
Sporting his best suit while rocking a pair of Chuck Taylors, Rob Dillingham walked across the stage in style at the 2024 NBA Draft. The SEC’s Sixth Man of the Year will take his fashion sense and even flashier game to Minneapolis.
Originally selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the 8th overall pick before immediately being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves (where he’ll team up alongside Karl-Anthony Towns), Dillingham shook hands with Commissioner Adam Silver on Wednesday night in Brooklyn as he officially begins his professional basketball career.
Watch below as Dillingham gets the call from Silver and gives his family — along with John Calipari — a handful of big hugs (look out for a joyful Jeff Sheppard in the background, too).
The trade couldn’t be made official in the moment, so Dillingham was rocking a Spurs hat while the ESPN crew discussed his potential in San Antonio, but he’ll be headed to Minnesota to join a backcourt that features All-Star guard Anthony Edwards. It won’t get more exciting than those two…

“He’s just a hooper, man,” ESPN analyst Jay Bilas said of Dillingham on the broadcast. “He can go out and get buckets. Rob Dillingham is ultra-quick. He’s got a great handle, but his speed, his quickness, his change of direction really sets him apart. He’s a shot-creator. I would say a three-level scorer.”
Dillingham, Edwards, and Towns will be must-watch TV next season for the BBN and all basketball fans.
