LOOK: Sights and sounds from the first Kentucky WBB practice
The 2022-23 Kentucky women’s basketball team completed its first practice of the offseason on Thursday. Directed by head coach Kyra Elzy, who is entering her third season as the Wildcats’ lead woman, the program is entering a new era. Rhyne Howard is off to the WNBA, where she’s already cemented herself as the likely Rookie of the Year, and 10 new faces have been added to the roster since the 2021-22 season came to a close.
The Big Blue Nation got a sneak peek of what’s to come this fall with a quick highlight video of the hard day’s work. There wasn’t anything groundbreaking in the 43-second clip, but there were a couple of nice scores from South Carolina transfer Eniya Russell mixed in there, a 6-foot-1 guard I expect to play a major role this season. Also, four-star freshman forward Tionna Herron looks every bit of the 6-foot-4 she’s listed at. There’s a lot of buzz around her potential.
Additionally, UK Athletics posted a photo gallery from the first day of practice, which you can find below. I’ve also included the player names under each photo to help you familiarize yourself with the team.
