LOOK: Signing Day ceremony for Kentucky WBB commit Cassidy Rowe
Cassidy Rowe never made a commitment video when she chose the Kentucky Wildcats over three years ago. So when she put pen to paper on Wednesday and officially became a member of the Big Blue Nation, some reflection was necessary.
Rowe, an in-state class of 2022 guard out of Shelby Valley High School, signed her National Letter of Intent with the Wildcats the very first day she could. But she waited to hold a proper ceremony in front of her friends, family, and the local media until Friday afternoon.
Finally, with two devastating ACL injuries in the rearview, Rowe was able to properly show her love for Kentucky through her own commitment video.
Rowe is one of four class of 2022 commits for Kentucky WBB head coach Kyra Elzy, all of whom have signed their NLI. The 5-foot-6 sharpshooter has never questioned her loyalty to the Big Blue Nation, and that carried over when Elzy replaced Matthew Mitchell following his unexpected retirement.

“Cassidy is a Kentucky kid that has decided to join BBN and we are excited that she’s a Wildcat,” Elzy said on Wednesday. “Cassidy is a blue-collar player that is committed to doing whatever it takes to be successful. She has dealt with some injuries and fought hard to get back to 100 percent. We have never doubted her, and they have never doubted us. Cassidy has the intangibles that we need; coachable, high motor and a phenomenal work ethic. She will impact the game on both ends of the floor with her hustle and scoring ability.”
It was a special atmosphere for Rowe and her family, particularly for her father Lonnie Rowe, who is the head coach at Shelby Valley and has watched her overcome injuries while growing on and off the court. Cassidy’s grandfather, who suffers from dementia and is a big Kentucky fan, was also able to watch his granddaughter sign with the ‘Cats.
Rowe even had the opportunity to meet with Geri Grigsby, well-known as the first great high school female superstar in the state of Kentucky. Grigsby recorded an astonishing 4,385 career points in just three seasons at McDowell High from 1975-77. She averaged 49.8 points per outing as a senior.
Welcome to the Big Blue Nation, Cassidy!
