LOOK: Terry Wilson throws 3 TDs in first half for New Mexico
One of the all-time winners in Kentucky Football history is off to a terrific start at his new home. Terry Wilson has already thrown for three first-half touchdowns in his 2021 season-opener.
Now the starting quarterback at New Mexico after a successful run in Lexington, Wilson threw for three TDs (with no interceptions) and 148 yards on 14-16 passing in the first half of the Lobos season-opener against Houston Baptist on Thursday night. New Mexico led 21-10 heading in the third quarter.
Terry was airing it out too.
Terry Wilson transferred to New Mexico in the offseason after starting in 25 games over his career at Kentucky where he posted a 17-8 record and won his way into the record books. He is the first player in school history with 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards. Wilson was named the New Mexico starting quarterback in mid-August.

“Terry Wilson will bring immediate experience to our quarterback room,” New Mexico head coach Danny Gonzales said. “He is a three-year starter in the SEC and won 68 percent of his games there. He’s a true dual-threat quarterback who should fit very well into what we are trying to do offensively. … He’ll bring a level of maturity and leadership to our team.”
With the firing of Eddie Gran and hiring of new offensive coordinator Liam Coen, UK head coach Mark Stoops decided to move his offense in a different direction. Penn State transfer Will Levis has been tabbed as the starter for Kentucky’s week one opener against Lousiana-Monroe on Saturday.
But the Big Blue Nation will never stop cheering for Terry.
