LOOK: Travis Perry shows off Lyon County state championship ring
Travis Perry is gearing up for his freshman season at Kentucky, but he recently received a special gift recognizing one of his biggest high school achievements.
On Friday, Perry posted to Instagram a picture of his state championship ring. Suiting up for Lyon County since seventh grade, Perry was able to lead the Lyons to the school’s first-ever Sweet 16 title earlier this year. Lyon County actually took down Perry’s current Kentucky teammate — Trent Noah, who played for Harlan County — to win the tournament.
Perry’s state champion ring (as seen below) features a giant Lyon County logo on the front, surrounded by shiny jewels. It also has “STATE CHAMPIONS” and “KHSAA” inscribed on the border. Just try not to brag too hard with it on in front of Noah…
Perry has been an offseason darling for Kentucky under new head coach Mark Pope. The 6-foot-1 freshman guard was a four-star recruit out of high school ranked No. 80 overall in the 2024 class prior to arriving on campus, but he’s seemingly outplayed that rating through the first few months of summer practice.

Notably, Perry confirmed that he went 100-100 from the free throw line during three straight days of practice earlier this summer. Wake Forest transfer Andrew Carr claimed Perry hit 59 corner three-pointers in a row during another practice session. West Virginia transfer Kerr Kriisa said that Perry is among the best shooters he’s ever seen.
Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised though — Perry finished as the state’s all-time leading high school scorer with 5,481 points at Lyon County. As a senior in 2023-24, the 2024 Mr. Kentucky Basketball winner averaged 28.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Lyons on shooting splits of 49.8/41.7/84.5.
Will it all translate to the college level? We’ll find out in a couple of months.
