LOOK: UK students celebrate, burn furniture on State Street following win over Ole Miss
University of Kentucky students took to State Street in celebration of the Wildcats’ upset win over No. 6 Ole Miss.
Not long after UK took down the Rebels in Oxford, 20-17, college students ignored the Lexington rain and flooded State Street to party on behalf of their football team. They celebrated in typical fashion too — by burning furniture in the middle of the road. Dozens of students are seen cheering around the fire, which got rather large, as you’ll see in the videos below.
While we certainly don’t encourage this sort of behavior, we aren’t naive enough to know that this is also a right of passage for plenty of UK students. When the ‘Cats win a big one, State Street is the place to be (just don’t get too close to the flames, please). Saturday’s victory meets the criteria.
