Wikipedia tells me that Buck Owens is from Texas. I could be convinced that he was a Kentucky football fan who saw too many games against Tennessee.

“If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all. Gloom, despair, and agony on me.”

Big Blue Nation is down bad right now after six straight SEC losses at Kroger Field. They’ll be down even worse if Kentucky can’t get right Saturday night against Auburn. If winning cures all ills, playing at Neyland Stadium is like sharing a toothbrush with a snotty toddler. You’re gonna get sick, just how bad is it?

Tennessee is in the middle of a bye week after knocking off Alabama on the Third Saturday in October. The fine folks at FanDuel are still giving Volunteer fans an opportunity to wager on their favorite team. The early lookahead line is Tennessee -14.5 over Kentucky. The total is 46.5.

Tennessee only has one loss, but they aren’t who we thought they were. After scoring 50+ points in three non-conference games, the Vols failed to surpass 25 points against an SEC foe. Instead of airing it out, they’ve leaned on RB Dylan Sampson — 119.7 yards per game and 17 touchdowns, both tops in the SEC — and the best defense of the Josh Heupel era.

Kentucky doesn’t need to win a shootout to beat Tennessee. The problem is the logo on the helmet. That giant T rarely loses to Kentucky. A 38-year-old Kentucky fan has only been alive for three Wildcat wins over the Vols and just one at Neyland Stadium.

No matter how good or bad things are going in Lexington, that place is a House of Horrors for Kentucky fans, which makes it appropriate that this game is being played two days after Halloween.
