Lorenzen showcases his old UK form

You remember when Jared Lorenzen was at Kentucky dont you? Part of the reason that I loved watching him (in addition to the fact that he was absurdly fat) was that he was the type of quarterback that I could get behind. Here was a guy that on any given play could either throw it 80 yards for a touchdown, throw a stupid interception, take off running and decapitate two linebackers or fumble the ball while trying to break four lineman's sack attempts. He truly was a feast or famine QB, which made some UK fans frustrated but always made me excited. Heck, UK football games are tough enough to watch anyways, so why not have a Hefty Lefty who keeps it interesting. Well it looks as if the New York Giants fans will soon understand that feeling as well. In the first preseason game of the year, Lorenzen had two classic J-Load plays. First, when the Baltimore Ravens blitzed, Throwboy tried to elude the grasps of the defenders and fumbled the football, leading to a Baltimore touchdown. But as any good Round Mound would do, Lorenzen came back at the end, leading the Giants on a 62 yard drive, including two 3rd and 1 Quarterback sneaks, setting New York up for the game-winning field goal and a 17-16 victory. Jared was the centerpiece of the ESPN highlight for the game and the New Yorker's legend continued to grow. Like Patrick Sparks, Lorenzen had an odd relationships with UK fans. Even though he was a Kentucky kid who loved the Blue and White, fans always expected more than he gave and while they cheered him at his best, they could easily scowl at his worst. But like Sparks, Lorenzen produced a lot of good memories for UK fans, and unlike Patrick (who has YMCA rec league champion written all over him) Jared is making a nice pro career. It was a great game for him tonight and I for one, am glad to see it.
