Louisville guard Skyy Clark enters transfer portal again

Louisville basketball received some unfortunate news on Saturday night when leading coaching candidate Dusty May turned down the ACC program to return to the Big Ten to lead Michigan’s program. After get a no from Baylor head coach Scott Drew earlier this week, director of athletics Josh Heird is now on plan C in this coaching search.

Some unfortunate roster news followed the latest development on the coaching carousel. Skyy Clark announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal after one season at Louisville.

“I’d like to thank Louisville for this experience and appreciate their trust in me as a leader of this program,” Clark said in a statement to On3. “I grew both as a player and person during my time under Kenny Payne and his staff. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that was given to me. As the Cardinals search for their next head coach, I feel it’s my responsibility to keep my options open as I consider what’s best for my basketball future.”

“With that, I’d like to announce I’ll be entering the transfer portal while maintaining an open line of communication with Louisville regarding a potential return. I’m forever grateful for #CardNation.”

After spending his first season at Illinois, Clark averaged 13.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 31.8 minutes per game on .412/.353/.776 shooting splits this past season at Louisville. The former top-50 recruit started 28 games for the Cardinals. Clark became the seventh UofL player to enter the transfer portal this offseason as this program looks for a new coach to replace Kenny Payne.

Skyy Clark was a long-time Kentucky commit and signee who got out of his National Letter of Intent with the Wildcats in March of his senior year. The four-star prospect ultimately landed at Illinois and will now be looking for his third college basketball home in three seasons.
