Massive news out of Baton Rouge this morning, as LSU star cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. is out indefinitely after undergoing a foot procedure this week.

As a result, Stingley will miss Saturday’s game against Kentucky.

Head coach Ed Orgeron announced the news Wednesday morning, adding that there is no timetable for a return.

“I appreciate all of the support from LSU and the fans,” Stingley said in a statement. “I’m doing all that I can to return to the field as soon as possible. I want to finish out the season with my teammates and I will do everything I can to get healthy so that I will be able to play again this year.”

Stingley is widely seen as one of the top defensive backs in all of college football and arguably the top cornerback prospect going into the 2022 NFL Draft.

He missed significant time in fall camp due to injury before playing just three games to open the season. In games against UCLA, McNeese, and Central Michigan, the standout corner racked up eight total tackles (six solo) and one forced fumble. He has missed LSU’s most recent games against Mississippi State and Auburn.

This news comes after Florida star cornerback Kaiir Elam missed last week’s game against Kentucky with a knee injury.
