Kentucky football will be well represented down in Mobile, Alabama next month. On Saturday, the Senior Bowl announced that super senior Luke Fortner will be in attendance.

The sixth-year player out of Sylvania (Ohio) Northview started 35 games at Kentucky and replaced four-year starter Drake Jackson at center in 2021. The transition was seamless.

PFF had Luke Fortner rated as the fifth-highest rated Power Five center in college football this season as the former right guard played 848 snaps for the Wildcats at the position. The veteran was a first-team All-SEC selection joining Kentucky right tackle Darian Kinnard.

The member of the Big Blue Wall started 23 consecutive game for the Wildcats at right guard before transitioning to center in 2021.

Now the old man of the Big Blue Wall will take his talent to the Senior Bowl to workout for a week in front of scouts from throughout the National Football League. The showcase draft even will give Fortner a chance to enhance his stock before the 2022 NFL Draft arrives in April.

Positional size and versatility

Last year throughout the draft process, Drake Jackson was dinged for lack of size and the inability to play other positions. That will not be a problem for Luke Fortner.

At 6-6 and 300 pounds, Fortner possesses length and movement ability. Plus the former three-star recruit played both guard spots at Kentucky in addition to becoming one of the best centers in college football.

That size and versatility will be very attractive to NFL franchises as Fortner could be a multi-dimensional player that could play three spots on the offensive line.

The Senior Bowl will help Fortner bolster his draft stock along with fellow Wildcats Yusuf Corker, Kinnard, and Josh Paschal.
