Former Kentucky star Lynn Bowden Jr. will make his Patriots debut this week after being promoted to the active roster prior to Sunday’s matchup vs. the Colts.

The standout playmaker signed a practice squad deal with New England back in September, where he has since racked up multiple practice player of the week honors to open the regular season. Now, he’ll be joining the 53-man roster for his first official game as a Patriot.

Bowden signed with New England after being released by the Dolphins this offseason. He spent his first two years in the NFL in Miami, catching 28 passes for 211 yards in 10 games as a rookie in 2020 before missing all of 2021 while on injured reserve.

The former Wildcat was drafted in the third round by the Raiders in 2020, but was traded to the Dolphins before his rookie debut.

During his historic career in Lexington, Bowden racked up an absurd 2,833 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns over three seasons, including 1,530 rushing and 1,303 receiving. Taking over as Kentucky’s starting quarterback in 2019, he led the Wildcats with 1,468 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground to go with 403 yards and three touchdowns through the air. After going 6-2 as the team’s starter, Bowden took home the Paul Hornung Award, given each year to college football’s most versatile player.

Now, the former Wildcat hopes to show off that versatility in his Patriots debut on Sunday.
