Did you have Magic Johnson shouting out Abby Steiner on your bingo card today? No? Didn’t think so.
When you win the 200m dash title at the USATF Outdoor Championships and record a personal best while doing so, the stars align for such a scenario.
The NBA Hall of Famer, five-time champion and 12-time All-Star gave a shoutout to Kentucky’s track and field superstar following her win in Eugene, Oregon on Sunday.
“Abby Steiner won the 200M race with a world lead and personal best time of 21.77 seconds!” Johnson tweeted Monday afternoon. “Abby’s win is so amazing because she’s still in college at the University of Kentucky.”

Real recognize real.
Steiner earned the 200m title by finishing with a time of 21.77 seconds, a new all-dates collegiate best, sixth fastest in American history and 17th fastest in world history.
“(This means) everything,” Steiner said after the race. “Coming off a collegiate season, a lot of people want to put limitations on you, that you’re going to be burnt out, but me and my coach just trusted the process and I couldn’t be more excited.”
Steiner will represent Team USA in World Athletics Championships in Eugene beginning on July 15, with the 200m prelims beginning on July 18.
We know Magic Johnson will be watching.
