A pair of former Kentucky Wildcats will continue their professional basketball careers overseas.

In the last week, Marcus Lee and Davion Mintz agreed to new contracts that will send them out of the United States for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Lee has inked a one-year deal with Melbourne United of the National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia while Mintz has landed with BC Oostende of the BXNT League in Belgium.

Lee, 29, is no stranger to the overseas game. The 6-foot-11 big man has been outside of the US since 2020. This will also be his second time playing for Melbourne United, which also rosters former NBA veteran Matthew Dellavedova. Mintz, 26, played for Capital City Go-Go, which is the G League affiliate of the NBA’s Washington Wizards, over the last two seasons. This will be the 6-foot-3 guard’s first stint overseas.

Back in their college days, Lee began his career at Kentucky (2013-16) before transferring to California (2017-18). He averaged 3.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and one block per game during his time in Lexington. Lee then averaged 11.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per outing in his lone season at California. He went undrafted in 2018 before making a brief stop in the G League and then heading overseas, where he’s been ever since.

As a cool side note: Lee returned to Lexington earlier in the summer for La Familia’s run in The Basketball Tournament to cheer on some of his former college teammates.

As for Mintz, he was at Creighton from 2016-19 before transferring to the Wildcats. He was a steady contributor with the Bluejays but came into his own during two seasons with Kentucky (2020-22), one of which was the COVID-impacted season. Mintz averaged 9.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game at UK. He also went undrafted in 2022 and has spent the two seasons since in the G League.
