Mark Pope, Jaxson Robinson, and Andrew Carr sat down with reporters in Seattle after No. 4 Kentucky’s 90-89 overtime win over No. 7 Gonzaga. After taking over at point guard when the Cats were without both Lamont Butler and Kerr Kriisa in the second half, Jaxson Robinson did the honors of giving the opening statement.

“Great team win. I know the first half was a little rough but this team is resilient. Coach talks about all this all the time, but just going into halftime, we’re a great team that makes adjustments. It was a great win.”

Yes, it was. Pope seized on the chance to praise Robinson, telling a story about how he had to play point guard several times last season at BYU and vowed to never do it again. Tonight, he not only did it, he helped lead the Cats to their second big win of the season.

“I’m telling you, he’s special, man. What Jaxson’s done in the last three or four games defensively is breathtaking and toughness wise is incredible and hitting insanely difficult shots in overtime period, to boot. He was really special, man.”

See it all below, including Pope’s comments about switching between zone and man-to-man defenses in the second half and the latest on Kerr Kriisa and Lamont Butler. And then watch it again tomorrow morning (this morning? It’s late.).
