WATCH: Mark Pope previews Kentucky's trip to Mississippi State
After a disappointing loss at Georgia, Kentucky goes back on the road this weekend to face No. 14 Mississippi State in Starkville. Mark Pope sat down with reporters for almost half an hour to preview the top-15 showdown. Even after last night’s call-in show, there’s a lot to cover.
Pope started by discussing the issues that plagued Kentucky at Georgia, chief among them rebounding and turnovers. He seems confident those can be fixed in the short term, but on Saturday, they’ll face one of the hottest and most physical teams in the country. Pope spent a lot of time raving about Mississippi State, namely star guard Josh Hubbard and senior forward Cameron Matthews, the latter of whom he compared to Draymond Green.
“They’re really aggressive, they’re a high-turnover-forcing team. They’re really aggressive on the glass, a top-30 team on the offensive glass. It’s kind of the bio of everybody in the SEC.”

Pope went in-depth on a lot of topics: getting to the free-throw line more often, how to maximize Otega Oweh, how you teach a team to be more physical and break bad habits, his own memories of playing Mississippi State, and more. Hit play and listen to it all below.
