Mark Stoops Announces Cutter Boley will Start for Kentucky vs. Louisville
Mark Stoops typically keeps things close to the vest when it comes to personnel matters, particularly at the quarterback position. That’s what made it so shocking when Mark Stoops announced Cutter Boley will be the starting quarterback for the season finale vs. Louisville.
Brock Vandagriff started in the previous 11 games for the Wildcats, but he’s alternated snaps throughout the season. Gavin Wimsatt appeared in seven games. Boley was inserted into the action for the entire second half of the Murray State and Texas games. He was 20-32 for 290 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
“I feel like he’s ready for it. I’m excited for him,” Stoops said Monday.
Boley is a true freshman who completed his high school career at Lexington Christian Academy. Last fall he was a four-star prospect and the No. 25 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
After providing a much-needed spark at Texas, hopes are high that Boley can serve as the cornerstone of the future of the program. The true freshman believes he can do something special in Lexington.

“We have a great group of guys in that locker room and we all have great attitudes, especially the young guys,” said Boley.
“We really believe we have something special moving forward. We think we can do something at UK that’s never been done before and I feel like every guy in the locker room believes that and we’re going to keep taking the next steps to be that team we want to be.”
