Mark Stoops earns 1-year contract extension with win over Vanderbilt
Mark Stoops received a nice payday for his Kentucky squad’s win over Vanderbilt on Saturday night.
The Wildcat head coach automatically had one year added to his contract in the 34-17 victory, as part of an incentive in his contract with the University. For every season that Stoops wins seven games in Lexington, he receives a one-year extension.
Stoops’ deal will now run through June 2027, according to USA Today’s Steve Berkowitz, with the additional year set to pay him $6.5 million. $4.875 million of that will be in guaranteed money.

According to Mark Stoops’ contract with Kentucky, he will earn a $250,000 bonus beginning with the ninth win of each season. With a 7-3 record and two more winnable games left on the schedule, he’s in great shape to hit that mark.
Stoops is currently one of the 15 highest-paid college football coaches in the country and sixth-highest in the SEC.
