MUST-SEE: Highlights from all 61 of Mark Stoops' wins at Kentucky
Last night, Mark Stoops got his 61st victory as Kentucky’s head coach, which moves him past Bear Bryant on the all-time wins list. We knew Stoops would reach the milestone early this season, but the fact that it came at Florida — on a night where Kentucky was far from perfect — is especially sweet. The Cats’ performance in the Swamp was as gritty as their head coach, who couldn’t help but wear his heart on his sleeve after the game was over.
“You’ve gotta be a tough son of b, to come into this environment and win, and we all understand that. We know this team is built that way. We’ve shown it through the years. That’s who we are. We’re going to be a tough, hard-nosed football team and we’re going to win tough games, no matter what they look like. We may win, we may lose, but by God, we’re going to be tough and we showed that tonight.”
It’s hard to put what Stoops has accomplished during his ten-year tenure at Kentucky into words. If you’re like me, you’ll be amazed at how recent some of those early victories seem.
