Mark Stoops, Kentucky Football send prayers to Western Kentucky

Early Friday morning storms swept across Western Kentucky, devastating the region, particularly the community of Mayfield. Rescue efforts from the EF-3 tornado are underway as authorities assess the extensive damage. Governor Andy Beshear said the death toll “may exceed 100 before the day is done.”
The Commonwealth is heartbroken. The Kentucky basketball team spent the morning praying for victims at the Grotto at Notre Dame. Meanwhile in Lexington, Mark Stoops’ Kentucky football program is sending well wishes to the western part of the state.

In addition to the well wishes from current players, former Kentucky football stars are sending well wishes to their Old Kentucky Home.
Mitch Barnhart released a statement vowing to help all those who suffered from the powerful storms.
“We are heartbroken by the devastation in Western Kentucky. Our roots run deep for Kentuckians and this tragedy affects so many throughout the Commonwealth.
“Over the next few days, our department will work with relief organizations to be part of a collective effort to help those who need assistance now and in the days to come.
“As do most of you, our student-athletes, coaches and staff have family and friends impacted by this stunning event. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost life and those who will continue to find their way through their losses.”
This is the first step to the grieving process. The University of Kentucky and the entire Commonwealth will come together to help Western Kentucky get back on its feet after the tragedy.
