Mark Stoops talks Kentucky Pro Day on SEC Network
It’s a big day for Kentucky Football as the spotlight shines on the program and Will Levis for Pro Day. SEC Network and NFL Network+ are broadcasting live from the Nutter Field House as pro coaches, scouts, and media convene to see Levis and Kentucky’s other pro prospects strut their stuff.
Levis will throw live on SEC Network starting at 1 p.m. ET. Prior to that, Jordan Rodgers caught up with Mark Stoops. Here’s a transcript of his comments and the clip if you missed it.
Chris Rodriguez’s 4.52 40-yard dash time
“I think it means an awful lot because everybody knows how tough he is and how sturdy and how dependable and the vision he has, and for him to run that time, I think he really helped himself. The guys have worked hard and I’m proud of them all. It’s a great turnout here today. So appreciate you guys being around.”
Kentucky’s “blue-collar” culture and how it’s received by NFL teams
“That’s what we like. You know that. We’re gonna do things the right way. We all know things are difficult, whether it’s in the NFL or playing in the SEC, or competing here at Kentucky, it’s tough. And you got to create that mindset. I’m proud of our guys. It’s really good to see the NFL guys come back and they know, what we’ve done here for going on going on 11 years. Hopefully, they see that. They see the way we coach, how hard we coach them, the discipline that our players have. We’re not perfect; we’re far from it. I’d like to be a little better than we were a year ago, but we’ll get back on track. Our team is hungry and working hard and really proud of these guys, the way they’ve trained, and the competitive nature that they have.

Will Levis’ talent and impact on the program
“We can’t say enough good things about Will and how proud we are of him. He came in and he earned his way with this team, but he did it in a very quick fashion. He did it very quickly, came in, and had great success his first year. Things happened a year ago, but no excuses here. It is what it is, but Will is still a fantastic player. You saw what we were like when we didn’t have them in a few games. He always gives you a chance. He’s super competitive. The guys rally around him.
“I’m just excited to see him perform here today and just let it go, let it rip. There are a lot of good football players out there that you know and you guys have been covering the talented players throughout the nation, and we’re just glad to showcase one of ours and all the guys here working today.”
Liam Coen returning as offensive coordinator
“We’re very excited about that; no doubt about it. He’s a guy that all of our players know, even the young guys that you saw playing a year ago, they know him from the recruiting process from the year before and they’re all excited to have him back. He brings the juice and energy and obviously, a knowledge and we’re excited about that. And some of the guys that had to play a year ago have grown up a bit, getting a year older and wiser and fortunately we got another great transfer quarterback coming in in Devin Leary, so we’re putting the pieces together.”
