The NFL Network is providing wall-to-wall NFL Draft coverage and a big part of that is Will Levis. Before the former Wildcat hears his name called by Roger Goodell in Kansas City, Mark Stoops and Liam Coen joined the network to share why they believe his next team is getting a franchise quarterback.

He’s one of those guys that really is the full package,” Mark Stoops told Andrew Siciliano. “You start with his competitiveness. He’s over the top. He comes in this building to train, to work each and every day. He has command of an organization.

“He’s a guy that can walk in and be a leader right away. After transferring here, he understands it takes some time to prove yourself, to find your voice, but once he does that, he’s the complete package. Somebody’s going to get one heck of a quarterback and a franchise guy that’s going to be there for a long time.”

Kentucky’s offensive coordinator knows what it takes for a quarterback to be successful in the NFL. After all, he was coaching them just last year. He knows Levis has the chops to be successful on Sundays for years to come.

“Absolutely, he can make every single throw,” Coen shared with Peter Schrager on Good Morning Football. “He’s going to be the first one in, last one to leave. If you want to have somebody that’s going to be in the organization, truly trying to make everybody better around him and has the ability to do so, ultimately that’s what you look at it in a franchise quarterback. Do they have the physical traits and some of the personality traits you’re looking for to be able to elevate an organization? He has those traits.”

Mark Stoops Answers the Mayo Question

Before starting a down for Kentucky, Will Levis made a Tik Tok video that went viral. Consuming an unpeeled banana and coffee with mayonnaise has earned him the label of “eccentric” from outsiders. Mark Stoops doesn’t see it that way.

“When I saw and heard about some of those things, I kinda got a chuckle and I said that’s good, because I really don’t see that side of Will at all. When he walks in this building, it’s go time. That’s how he’s been since day one. He is so full of energy and ready to work each and every day. He is a college student, I want him to enjoy himself a little bit and have a little fun. I’ve never seen that side of him,” said Stoops.

“The silliness. I don’t think that’s the problem. He does everything at full tilt.”

Some may see him as eccentric or cocky. They don’t see the work ethic Will Levis brings with him to the facility on a daily basis.

“Anything’s that’s a weakness of his will eventually be a strength because that’s the way he attacks things each and every day.”

Coen Pitches Kentucky Football on National TV

Getting this much air-time on the NFL Network is already a valuable informal recruiting pitch for the Kentucky football program. After talking about the quarterback, Schrager gave Liam Coen an opportunity to provide a formal recruiting pitch to all of the talented young football players across the country watching at home.

“Coach Stoops is a players’ coach. We have two previous coordinators in the NFL as coordinators on the offensive and defensive side of the ball and we got some talent that’s coming to Lexington to be able to do some really good things,” said Coen. “Come to Big Blue Nation.”
