WATCH: Mark Stoops bangs stool on locker in Governor's Cup celebration
We’ve been treated to several memorable locker room celebrations during the Mark Stoops Era. This one probably doesn’t top the time he crowd-surfed and broke a ceiling tile at Missouri in 2018, but it’s close. After Kentucky’s improbable 38-31 upset over No. 9 Louisville to win its fifth straight Governor’s Cup, Mark Stoops let loose in the locker room, banging a stool atop a locker as the team went wild.
“He was having too much fun with that,” Devin Leary said of Stoops, the stool, and the locker. “Not sure what was with the locker but it was awesome to celebrate after the win.”
It’s been a wild week for the Kentucky Football program. After the depressing loss to South Carolina, the team reportedly held a players-only meeting, but rumors of unrest still lingered. This morning, word broke that Mark Stoops is a top candidate for the Texas A&M job, which he was asked about but didn’t exactly deny after the game.

Despite all of the distractions, Kentucky didn’t commit a single penalty despite several chippy moments with the Cardinals. Vince Marrow couldn’t help but pull out his phone and serve up some crow afterward.
